The tale of 3 sisters.

As I brain-stormed my ideas for my next project, I realized I had my story right in front of me. My family on my dad’s side is composed of 5 siblings with 3 sisters, also my aunts. Ever since I can remember, they’ve made the most delicious cuisine for me and the rest of the family. I’ve grown to admire and appreciate their food.

When I reached out to them as a way to help me with the creation of this project, they were more than willing to help me.

On my phone calls with them, they told me about my grandma, who I never had the pleasure of meeting, and how they learned their love for cooking through her. My dad helped me as well, telling me stories of my grandma’s amazing chickpea and paella recipe.

The next task in hand was to create the restaurant and brand. I decided on “Chapman,” our last name, as the restaurant’s name. The restaurant’s identity is rooted in culturally diverse food made by 3 sisters with a love for their family and the trade.

Barranquilla, Colombia

My dad and all of his siblings, (including my aunts) are from Barranquilla, Colombia, a city known for its colorful and vibrant carnaval. To match and complement the beautiful city my family is from, I geared towards a colorful and illustrated brand identity. Additionally, I created 4 different patterns with food and ingredients to add to the playful nature of the design.
